8AM IN THE CLUB - Research
This thesis explores the paradox of rave culture, spaces initially conceived as places of freedom and emancipation that can, in reality, lead to excess, social pressure, and isolation. Based on interviews with DJs, participants, and event organizers, the research examines how the pursuit of escape, often driven by drug use, implicit social norms,
and increasing commercialization, can result in a loss of identity and the reproduction of consumerist behaviors. Despite these contradictions, raves remain spaces for personal expression and exploration.
The thesis calls for a critical rethinking of the rave experience in order to preserve its authenticity and foster a more inclusive, responsible, and respectful culture that stays true to its original values. In addition to conducting the research and analysis, I personally designed and structured the layout of the thesis, aiming to visually reflect its themes and create a reading experience aligned with the subject matter.
